Weekend in Oxford
I had a wonderful time this weekend. I got a chance to visit some good friends of mine in Oxford who in turn took it upon themselves to take me to their friends bbq on Saturday. I got to meet some very cool people, found an Ale that I actually like and learnt how to make lemon vodka!
Sunday invved going to Barcamp Transparency, which covered interesting topics like protecting our data, how open is too open, cctv and more. I even gave a talk on OpenID.
I had not planned to gve a talk on OpenID, I just decided to put it on the board in the morning and soon spent the rest of the day getting nervous about it.
Thankfully it seemed to go okay. We had a few problems like no lead for my macbook and the projector, which meant I had to borrow my friends laptop. This naturally caused a few hiccups in the presentation.
If you saw my presentation I would appreciate feedback as I would like to give more talks on this in the future.
If you have a look on flickr for #bct09 you can see some pretty horrible photos of me.
My drive home was not bad either and when I finally got in I dumped some dim sum in the pan and ate it with rice, chives, soy sauce and a sweet chilli dip I made on the spot.
My sweet chilli dip was made of:
- 2 Parts rice wine
- 3-4 parts white wine viniger
- 1 thai red chilli chopped and deseeded
- 1 tea spoon fish sauce
- sugar to taste
- chopped and squashed fresh ginger
- a squeeze of lime juice
It was hot but yummy!
